About

Published in Lithuanian and English since 1999, the magazine “FOTOGRAFIJA” is an informational and art-historical publication of the Lithuanian Photographers’ Union. The magazine features art-historical and essayistic articles, material on the current state and history of Lithuanian photography, exhibition reviews, and overviews of the activities of the Lithuanian Photographers’ Union.

The article sections provide a platform for the development of theoretical and analytical thought that summarizes the evolution of contemporary photography in Lithuania and abroad, its relationship with other art forms, and explores the history of this art form. Recently, the magazine has opted to dedicate one issue to a selected theme (photography and cinema, photography and sound, conflict photography, etc.), while the second issue features critical articles on the year’s events. In addition to articles, the magazine publishes photography portfolios by two or more authors, accompanied by interviews.

The magazine’s readership is very dynamic, and due to its changing themes, the publication has become an important source of information not only for professional photographers, exhibition curators, and museum professionals, but also for anyone interested in culture and theoretical discourse on art.
